Day 3 of 30 Day Yoga Challenge...It can only get better

Tuesday, June 4, 2019

Day 3

So, now I understand why the third day is the hardest!

// I apologize ahead of time for my rant //

buuuuuuut ....I really needed to push myself with this day. It was already a rough start. I didn't sleep well the night before, being sore an all.

I also am a P E R F E C T I O N I S T. I wanted to be as good as I once was and felt disappointed with myself because I wasn't able to hold the poses or straighten my legs all the way during down dog.

 UGG

Also, my little fur pups were not helping.

 Que Video --->

I know that day 4 will be better.
Let me know if you are going through a challenge and how you pushed yourself through that in the comment space below!

Day 2 of 30 Day Yoga Challenge.....And I'm feeling it

Monday, June 3, 2019

Day 2

Only 28 more days to go.

Day two was filled with difficulty. It was already a hard day at work, and the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was rearrange my living room, set up my camera, and work out for 40 minutes.

I really wanted to curl up on the couch, eat popcorn, and watch reruns of Queer Eye more than a makeover.

Can I get an Amen!

But I showed up for myself, which afterwards made me feel really proud. As I was editing the video, I was able to see that even though I was struggling, I didn't stop. And that my friends..... made me feel proud.

Today is going to be a short post, because truthfully, I can barely move my arms. But I hope that this helps anyone who needs to hear this:

YOU GOT THIS!
YOU'RE STRONGER THAN YOU REALIZE!
ALWAYS SHOW UP FOR YOURSELF!

30 Day Challenge with Adriene Louise

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

Day 1

Yesterday was the first time I stepped onto my mat in over a year. I was nervous, I wasn't sure if I was ready, but I knew I just needed to start.

I am currently participating in Adriene Louise: 30-day yoga challenge, which is rightfully called,
"Dedication."  I am keeping myself accountable and will be blogging my challenge for the next 30 days.

If you are interested in joining this challenge Click on the link here and scroll down to DAY 1. It is free and she has an amazing way of motivating you!

If you haven't tried yoga before I have created an Amazon List of Yoga Essentials that you can find here:
YOGA ESSENTIAL LIST

But if you want just the basics you will need:

A yoga mat

Comfortable clothing

A water bottle

and an open mindset!

That's is really it.

I also post a daily vlog on my YouTube Channel.

My take away from my first day back was, " Man, this used to be a lot easier!"
My legs were shaky, my legs were uncomfortable, and my breathing was all over the place.

But 20 minutes into the 49-minute video, I started to use my "third eye" and see my body. I was able to "see" my abdominal wall and it's 4 sides, breathing together. I was able to see the arch on my feet and adjust them accordingly.

I know this process is going to take a while but I am so excited about this journey

5 Ways To Make Your Bathroom Unique

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

An inspiration for this blog came from Pinterest, obviously.
I truly do not understand how people go throughout their life without the guidance of Pinterest. I am in the middle of renovating my apartment with my wonderful, understanding boyfriend. The word understanding should be in all caps. I change my mind a lot and usually am specific about the decor of the house. He, however, goes with the flow and I couldn’t be happier.
After completing the renovation with our bedroom which you can find HERE, (it is posted on my other blog THE MESS THAT MATTERS); I took a hard look at a place where some people might spend a lot of time in, the bathroom. This is the place where you spend on average of almost 92 days over a lifetime in.  It certainly will depend on what kind of person you are, because if you spend more than an hour in the bathroom this number triples.
I decided to change the look of our bathroom a few weeks ago when Devin and I were shopping at Anthropologie, and came across these cute bunny handles. I normally am very grey and minimal when we pick out design features but Devin was all about them. So, we brought them home and I couldn’t be more in love. It’s such a fun statement piece.
Bunny Ears Handles: $12 each

We also wanted to have some sort of wall art, but couldn’t decide on what we wanted. I then stumbled upon these three beauties. I found them on Rifle Paper Co.

I inherited this mirror from my late grandmother, and it was just tan. So I bought a bottle of black spray paint and went to work.

I personally don’t like wonder where my mascara or eye liner are so I have tray specifically for them.

And finally, from the rabbit hole of Pinterest to my very own bathroom, A bushel of eucalyptus tree branches. I am so excited to have this in my bathroom, not just because I have been dreaming of a lushes bathroom with plants, but because the smell is so calming that I am dreaming of taking a bath as soon as I am done writing this post.
I found these babies at the Farmers Market on Sunset and Vine in Hollywood. They have a farmers market every Sunday.

My Top 3 Things to do in San Antonio

Tuesday, February 27, 2018

A few months ago I had the pleasure of going to San Antonio for the Armstrong McCall Hair Show. It was my first time going to this little big town, and was excited to see what there was to do!

Because of my line of work, I have seen most of Texas. Houston, Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, Galveston, to name a few. But I had never been to San Antonio, home of the Alamo, and this history lover couldn't wait to see this archival town.

So..after exploring I have concocted a list of experiences you ALL need to have!
One of the main attractions in San Antonio is the River Walk. It is the hot spot of the city. You do kind of feel like a tourist, but also feel like a local! This is the place where you find great BBQ, Bars, and Karaoke! One of the greatest experiences I had in San Antonio was taking a River Boat Cruise around the whole canal and seeing the River Walk in a different way! My girlfriend and I were able to bring wine on board and the tour guide was very sweet and informative.

My girlfriend Jen and I decided to go at night to see all the entertainment and restaurants lite up.

This is a MUST SEE!
For lunch we went to The Country Line and might I say...YUM! They had huge portions, which meant I was able to take some to go to eat late night while binge-watching Orange is the New Black!
WIN.
The ambiance was amazing!

I had the Lite Bar B-B-Q...and before you judge...take a look at the menu:
I choose the Two Meat Platter, and it did not disappoint!

The Alamo was really interesting.
First off it's free to go to the front and take your picture, feel the stone and really embrace this piece of history.
Secondly, it's in the heart of downtown and was walking distance from my hotel.
You can take a Guided Tour for $15.
GET YOUR TICKETS HERE, which I was too late to purchase due to my work schedule, but I was still able to walk around the whole building and peek in and see the grounds!

Finally,
You need to go to the Pearl District!

A local told me to check it out, and it did NOT disappoint!

The Pearl Brewery is such a unique experience!

It is one of the main features at The Pearl, which is an outdoor space that includes shops, restaurants, and trendy apartment buildings!

San Antonio is a unique little big town! I hope my post has helped you see some interesting spots to check out on your next trip to the Big State of Texas!

How To Update Your Sidetable for Under $20

Tuesday, February 20, 2018

When it comes to home decor, you can feel overwhelmed, or confused. It's all so...well overwhelming. With Pinterest and Bloglovin I constantly see new and fun ideas to incorporate into my space. But I am a broke college student who doesn't have the type of money to go out and reno my apartment. But I do have twenty dollars $$.

Sometimes all you need is a small renovation to make a huge statement. Take my lamps for example. I have owned these for years. They have served their purpose and now they need a makeover. I looked at my calendar and since it is President's Day, I have the whole day off.

.....am I right; Kind of boring, so the renovation began with the idea of make these into a statement piece in our bedroom.

Cut To: How To Spray Paint A Lamp!

STEPS WITH PICTURES!

Step #1

Take the hardware off of your lamp.

Step #2

You are going to want enough slack to be able to tape both sides of the lamp. Each lamp is different though. The take away from this step is, tape all the exposed wiring.
I personally prefer electrical tape because it comes off much easier than blue or masking tape.

Step #3

Find an open space to lay your paper down to begin spray painting. Nothing is more frustrating than thinking you have the perfect spot, but then to find out your spray paint dust has gone everywhere.
I chose my backyard near the trash. I know it doesn't sound appealing...BUT I felt better knowing that if any paint dust got anywhere it would be on my trashcans. Which would be a bonus haha.
I went to Home Depot and found they had a section just for Metallic! I originally thought about gold, because I have yellow/gold as an accent color around my house...but then my eyes drew to copper and I was sold! Literally...for $6.75 HELLO!

Step #4

Start to Spray Paint your Lamp. I did clean mine off with a wet paper towel before I began. It helps it look seamless. Start from the bottom and work your way up! This was you avoid drips.
And then let them sit for 2-4 Hours!
Beauty takes Patience.

As you can see, I was so excited that I have drips. That's ok with me though, because I like the DIY look. Imperfections can be kind of cool.

I think they came out amazingly!

I am so happy how they turned out! What put me at exactly $19.79 were the two succulents I bought. but at $5 each, how could I pass that up!

I hope this helps you be inspired to do just small DIY projects around the house that can really make a BIG difference.
